Charlotte Russe


2 eggs, separated                   
1 package unflavored gelatin        
1/4 cup cold water                  
1 1/2 cups sugar

1 pint whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 package Lady Fingers

Beat egg whites until stiff.  Gradually add 1 cup sugar.  Beat egg yolks until light and fluffy.  Gradually add remaining sugar.

Mix gelatin and cold water.  Place in double boiler.  Dissolve over low heat.  when thoroughly dissolved, beat rapidly into egg yolks.  Fold in beaten egg whites.  Add vanilla .  Whip cream stiff, fold 1/2 of it into mixture.  Place split Lady Fingers around bowl.  Fill with mixture.  Garnish top with remaining whipped cream.

Chill for 6 hours.
