Eggnog Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup eggnog
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon nutmeg
2 teaspoons baking powder

Paint - 2 egg yolks, 1/2 teaspoon water, food coloring

Beat together butter, sugar, and eggs.  Stir in eggnog and vanilla.

In separate bowl, combine flour, nutmeg, and baking powder.  Add to butter mixture and blend well.  Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Combine egg yolks and water in a small bowl.  Divide mixture into several small cups and add different colors of food coloring to each.

Heat oven to 350 degrees.  Divide dough in half. Take half and roll out onto lightly floured surface to 1/8" thickness.  Cut with cookie cutters and place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

Using a small brush, paint cookies with yolk mixture to decorate.  Bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown.

Cool on wire rack.

Makes about 8 dozen.
