Soft Molasses Cookies
 

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
3/4 cups butter, softened
1/3 cup light molasses
3 tablespoons milk
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon salt
sugar

Combine sugar, butter, molasses, milk, egg, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt; beat at low speed until well blended.

Cover and refrigerate dough until firm, at least four hours. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Form into 1-inch balls, roll in sugar.  Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.  Let cookies cool slightly before removing from pans.  Cool on racks. Store cookies in an airtight container.
